QAT) - Awarded the title
of Fina Best Swimmers in 2014, Chad Le Clos (RSA) and Katinka
Hosszu (HUN) were also the athletes shining the most in the 12th
FINA
World Swimming Championships (25m). At the conclusion of the 5-day
competition,
the South African star and the Magyar champion received the Trophy for
the Best Male and Female Swimmer of the competition. The first-ever Youth
programme, successfully drew to an end yesterday at the Aspire's
Zone.
A total 136 countries sent 280 swimmers aged 14-16 with their coach to
take part in a programme. U.S. top-level coach Todd Schmitz, run the
programme

The competition included senior and junior category swimmers. New

(HUN) and Chad Le Clos (RSA) finished in style at the last leg
of
the FINA Swim World Cup 2014, held in Singapore last week-end,
both
successfully defending their World Cup titles. Hosszu garnered an
impressive
68 medals (51 gold, 8 silver & 9 bronze) while Chad Le Clos’ tally
included 27 medals, all of them gold. The 2014 edition of the WCS
featured
eye-opening performances with 11 World Cup records, including six World
records, 5 of which were set by Hosszu. In all, 91 men and 81 women
from

were observed this week at the 4th legs of the FINA 10km Marathon
Swim
World Cup and FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix 2014,
taking
place in Lac St-Jean (CAN) on Jul.24 and 26, respectively. On Thursday
(Jul 24), 16 women & 23 men from 11 countries took part in the 10km
race. German Andreas Waschburger touched first in 1:56:44.9. In
the Saturday's race, the competition field was fierce with 14 men and 8
women taking the departure for the 32 km effort. The race was very
close
with local swimmer Xavier Desharnais and Tomi Stefanovski

was banned for 16 months (re. drugs test). The FINA doping panel

suspended Efimova in January after samples she provided in an
out-of-competition
control last October showed the presence of a prohibited anabolic
steroid. FINA ban runs until February 28, 2015, and all of Efimova's
results
from Oct. 31, 2013 onwards, including the 200 breast WR she set at the
Euro SC championships in Herning, DEN, in December, have been

of the FINA Bureau in 2014 took place in Cancun (MEX),
immediately
after the organisation of the World Water Polo Conference. Many
decisions
are brought. Among others, FINA established Swimming World Junior
Records, within the following age limits: Boys – 15-18 years old; Girls
– 14-17 years old. Target times shall be the Championships records
after
the 4th World Junior Championships 2013 in Dubai (UAE); At the Doha
2014,
the total of prize money awards will be US$ 897,000 (plus US$
15,000
for each World Record). New FINA logo will be designed and installed
soon.

that is going to be held in Kazan (RUS) on Jul.24 - Aug. 9, 2015, Fina
has announced the qualifiing standards and procedures. If a National
Federation
enters only one (1) swimmer per event, all swimmers entered must meet
the
qualifying “B” cut. If two (2) swimmers are entered in the same event,
both of them must meet the qualifying “A” standard time.

leg of the USA GP 2014 in Austin - concluded...(Results)

USA) –Organized by the
USA Swimming, this past week-end in Austin, Texas, the 2nd stop of the
2014
USA Grand Prix Series, concluded successfully. Place of the event:
Aquatic Center at the University of Texas. About 600 athlete took part
in the event. Olympic gold medalist Yannick Agnel (FRA) as the
top
swimmer in Austin, took 3 golds (1500 free in 15:07.76; 400 free in
3:49.78
and 200 free in 1:45.76). Also winning multiple events were U.S.
Olympians Caitlin Leverenz, Conor Dwyer and Katie
Ledecky.

voted for the Athletes of the Year 2013, having chosen 11 best
competitors
in the 6 disciplines. This selection of the Fina Aquatics World
Magazine
had the participation of 674 voters, coming from the
National
Federations, Fina Committees, media, partners and experts in the
Aquatic
sports. Ryan Lochte USA among males & Katie Ledecky
USA
among females are at the world top within the swimming sport... In the
Open Water Swimming, Thomas Lurz (GER) and Poliana Okimoto
