In the previous year he shared Big 12 Conference Swimmer of the Year
honors.

concuded in Mexico, this past weekend. 36 athletes from 14 countries
competed.
The race unfolded smoothly as surface conditions were calm. The water
temp
was 27.8°C. Andreas Waschburger (GER) won with a time of
1:53:58
in front of his teammate Thomas Lurz (1:53:59). Taking third
was
Alex
Meyer USA (1:54:12). Sergiy Fesenko (AZE) went head-to-head
for the touch with the BUL star Petar Stoychev with a time of
1:54:21.
Among females ranked 1st was Poliana Okimoto (BRA) in a

the 2011 Open Water Swimming Grand Prix - Sumidero Canyon (MEX)
is finally canceled. This leg is planned to be held on May 7. The
decision has been reached following the recommendation of the FINA

Committee, stating that: “Given the importance of the health and safety
of the open water swimmers and in light of the official documentation
on
water quality provided by the Mexican Swim Federation, it is evident
that

- Impressive endurance were on display in the longest race of the FINA
OWS Grand Prix 2011, a demanding 88km, which took place in Argentina at
the famous Hernandarias-Parana Marathon. 21 swimmers, local and from
Macedonia,
Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Canada and Brazil commenced the race,
five
of which withdrew. The men’s event was comfortably won by Italian giant
Andrea
Volpini in 9:06:05. Argentina’s rising talent Guillermo Bertola,
only 22 year old, produced his best performance so far, claiming silver
in a time of 9:11:35. The bronze that day was reserved for compatriot

administration of the PZS, also to provide more funds dedicated to the

the 4th consecutive year, the Grand Prix attracts world-class open

swimmers to race some of the world’s most incredible waterways in

ranging from 15km to 88km. The first leg of the annual circuit takes

in Rosario (ARG) on Jan 23. 22 men and 16 women will enter the 15km
race,
counting the Bulgarian giant Petar Stoychev, uncontested

On the Day-1, few great times were set. Julia Smit won in
400 IM with the time of 4:38.83, while among males, Ryan

in 200 free (1:53.81) and Michael Phelps in 100 fly (52.55)...
Also
were good Elaine Breeden in the women's 100 fly winning
with
a 59.22 and Katie Hoff in the women's 200 free (1:58.69).

SLO)- Organized by the Plavalno Drustvo Maribor, this past weekend in
Slovenia,
the first edition of the new AG meet "Winter 2011" concluded
successfully,
by the municipality pool (25-m)... 14 clubs with about 200 competitors
from RUS, HUN and SLO took part in the meet events. Few worth times
were
swum by: Nastja Govejsek (1997) who set the new NCR in the 50
free
(26.64). Nina Drolc (1992) set the best meet time in 50 free
(26.42),
while among the men Martin Bau (SC Branik) in 200 free
(1:56.80)...

Aquatics World Magazine”, the FINA elected the Best Athletes of 2010 in
all aquatic disciplines: Swimming, Water Polo, Diving, Synchronised
Swimming
and Open Water Swimming. Within the swim sport, top placed are: Men – Ryan
Lochte (USA): winner of 7 medals at the FINA World Swimming

New swimming kids in Dubai - first steps for the future...

- Day-4, within the evening SFs and finals brought new CRs in
almost
all disciplines. 5 finals and 6 semis were held. In the W 100 breast
finals,
Rebecca
Soni, USA caught a gold medal (1:03.98 - CR) in front of Jones, AUS
(1:04.26) and Ji, CHN (1:04.79). In the M 50 back finals, Stanislav
Donets, RUS again set a new CR (22.93). In other finals, in the M
50
fly finals,
Albert Subirats, VEN earned gold medal
with the time
of 22.40 - CR. In the W 200 Ind.medley, Mireia Belmonte ESP set
the new CR in 2:05.73 and earned gold medal in front of Ye, CHN
(2:05.94)
and Kukors, USA (2:06.09). In the last event this evening W 4x 100 free

- The 10th Fina World Champs Dubai 2010 started this morning at
the Rashid Swim Complex. Just at the beginning, within the morning
heats,
the new three champs records were set by Ryan Lochte, USA in
the
M 200 free (1:42.38), in the M 100 breast by Fabio Scozzoli,
ITA
with the time of 57.60 and by the Russia's squad in the M 4x100
free relay (3:07.78)... Serbian competitors didn't succeed to
catch
the SFs. In the men's 100 breast Caba Siladji was DISQ, Ivan
Lendjer in the men's 100 fly placed 17th (51.54), while Velimir

took part in the 2-day events for the 19th international AG meeting "Miklavz
2010" that concluded Sunday in Ljubljana, SLO. Three teams from

USA) - At the Ohio State University, USA, on Thursday evening, the 2010
USA Short Course National Championships, started at the McCorkle
Aquatic
Pavilion. First 4 disciplines concluded with the prelims. Worthy times
were set by Matt Grevers in 50 yd. free (19.23); Jessica
Hardy
also in the 50 yd. free (22.09). Austria's Markus Rogan beats
Rian
Lochte in 200 yd. IM with the time of 1:44.58... Hungarian Katlin
Hosszu
earned the best position in the women's 200
yd. IM (1:56.05)...
Follow up the On Line Results of the USA SCY Championships
(Lausanne,
SUI) - FINA has rescheduled its 10K Marathon Swim World Cup in 2011,
which
will have its first race in April (in Santos, BRA), in order to provide
the necessary time for the FINA Task Force in charge of investigating
the
circumstances of the tragic loss of open water swimmer Fran Crippen
(USA),
on Oct. in UAE. The 2011 OWS season will start on January 23, with the
initial race of the Grand Prix in Rosario (ARG, 15 km). This circuit
will
have 11 stops in three continents and includes only races above 10km
(in
