Serbian Junior Team - Starts Prep for 2011...

(Belgrade, SRB) - The PSS has issued today the first round preparation for the top junior swimmers. Since Jan. 03, the swim center Jezero in Kikinda will host 12 candidates for the national team. Leaded by Nikola Trajkovic, medalist from the CO.ME.N Cup 2010 and the EJCM Belgrade 2010, the team will have quite worthy environment for the first round of the preparation for the upcoming EJC Belgrade 2011... Atina Bojadzi, Ohrid Dolphin died in Skopje...
A.Bojadzi
(Skopje, FYROM) -The officials in Skopje announced today that Atina Bojadzi (66) died but it still stays unpublicized about the causes of her death. More known as the Ohrid Dolphin, Bojadzi was the first woman in the ex Yugoslavia who crossed the English Channel (La Manche) in 1969... Bojadzi was several time national record holder in long distance swimming events. After independence declaration Bojadzi earned the FYROM's national honors. The exact funeral arrangement is unknown in this moment. On behalf of the Serbian swimming audience, the SC Swim Star 2000 Belgrade and my own I'm extending my huge sadness (Goran Rasula)... In the women's 200 breast, Rebecca Soni, USA placed 1st with the new CR (2:18.66), in front of Ye Sun, CHN (2:19.77) and Moller Pedersen, DEN (2:20.89). From the SRB squad, the only participant ithis morning was Velimir Stjepanovic who ranked 25th (of 40 competitors) in the M 200 fly with the new Absolute and Junior record of Serbia - 1:57.18 (26.00-56.03-1:26.39-1:57.18). More then 330 athletes from 33 clubs  (SLO, FYROM, BUL and SRB) take part in 2-day events. Top performances of the Day-1 were achieved by Nikola Simic (SC Vojvodina) in 100 free (53.22 - 714 pts), and Tijana Vukanovic (SC Vojvodina) also in 100 free (59.48 - 725 pts. (Belgrade, SRB) - Organized by the SC Vracar, on Saturday in Belgrade, started the 19th edition of the traditional AG meet "Youth Talents Meet 2010". More then 500 athletes from 30 clubs (AUT, BiH, FYROM, BUL, SLO and SRB). Top performances were set among boys by Ivo Pejovic (SC Partizan) in 200 free (1:55.77 - 693pts), also by Aleksa Djordjevic (SC Jagodina 2000) in the 50 free (24.17 - 665pts), while among girls - Jovana Bogdanovic (SRB) in 200 breast (2:32.29 - 769pts) and Dragana Ivanovic (SC Partizan) in 100 breast (1:16.27 - 617 pts). In the men's 50 breast Cameron Van Der Burgh (RAS) set the CR in 26.14, followed by Scozzoli, ITA (26.46) and Triznov, RUS (26.59). In the M 100 free Fabien Gilot, FRA set also new CR with the time of 46.62. From the SRB squad, Caba Siladji, in the men's 50 breast succeeded to catch the Semi Finals as 12th with the time of 26.91. In the men's 100 free Velimir Stjepanovic set new national junior record (48.77) and was placed 28th overall of 119 competitors..

(Dubai, UAE) - Day-3 of the Fina World SC Championships brought more three new records of the champs. In the M 50 back, S. Donets, RUS ranked 1st in 23.24 CR. In the women's 4x100 medley relay CHN squad (Gao, Zhao, Guo & Li) set CR in 3:50.69. In the M 200 breast D. Gyurta, HUN set CR in 2:04.46. From the SRB squad, In the M 50 fly Ivan Lendjer placed 24th (23.52), while V.Stjepanovic ranked 47th (24.56). In M 400 free Velimir Stjepanovic placed 27th overall with the new NR (3:48.56). Dubai 2010 - Day-1 - Three CRs in Qualifications...

(Dubai, UAE) - The 10th Fina World Champs Dubai 2010 started this morning at the Rashid Swim Complex. Just at the beginning, within the morning heats, the new three champs records were set by Ryan Lochte, USA in the M 200 free (1:42.38), in the M 100 breast by Fabio Scozzoli, ITA with the time of 57.60 and by the Russia's squad in the M 4x100 free relay (3:07.78)...  Serbian competitors didn't succeed to catch the SFs. In the men's 100 breast Caba Siladji was DISQ, Ivan Lendjer in the men's 100 fly placed 17th (51.54), while Velimir Stjepanovic ranked 39th (53.09) of 88 athletes. Read more in our Web Blog

(Belgrade, SRB) - The 8th Cental European Junior Meet - Belgrade 2010 started Friday afternoon in Belgrade, after the marvelous opening ceremony... Great times were set mainly by the swimmers of Hungary, Poland and Slovenia. First medals were consigned. In the women's 100 free Diana Sokolowska, POL ranked 1st (57.34 - 810pts.). In the men's 100 free Daniel Rzadkowski POL took gold (52.93 - 725 pts.). (Lausanne, SUI) - At the end of the present swimming season (2009-2010), after the Pan Pacific 2010 as well as the European Champs Budapest 2010, it would be useful to see the official standards issued by the Fina, for the upcoming World Swimming Championships in China - Shanghai 2011. The A and B qualifying times exist in each disciplines (both in the men and women concurrence), which have to be swum out at the 80 Int'l swim competitions previously defined by Fina. Deadline for fulfilling the norms is June 30th 2011.

(Singapore, SGN) - On the Day-6, for the evening semis and finals at the Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games, Serbian athlete Velimir Stjepanovic succeeded to catch his  2nd YOG medal. In the men's 100 free, he ranked second (50.25). Medhy Metella FRA won in 49.99, while AUS swimmer Kenneth To placed 3rd (50.29).. (Singapore, SGN) - On the Day-6 (morning prelims) of the swim events at the Singapore 2010, SRB swimmer Velimir Stjepanovic has made new great performance. In the men's 200 fly heats he qualified for 200 fly final (2:02.04), In the evening session, he will take part in the Singapore's two men's finals (100 free and 200 fly).  Another one SRB swimmer Marija Joksimovic took part in the women's 400 free and was placed 19th overall (4:32.25)... In in the prelims Stjepanovic placed 4th overall  with a time of 51.16. Cavic went out from the surgery in Munchen...

(Munchen, GER) - Issued exclusively by the Belgrade's Sport magazine yesterday, Mike Cavic, Olympic Medalist, World Champion and national record holder, went out from the neuro surgery in GER. Upon the supervision of Dr. Jorg Christian Tonn,  the treatment was successfully concluded. Next ten days Cavic will stay in Munchen on the first rehabilitation. Now the problem with his back is finally solved. Wishing him fast return, on behalf of all Cavic's swim adorers from Belgrade, I am sending him my best regards now from Moscow,Russia (Igor Rasula).

France's Yannick Agnel swam out great in M-100 free (49.88) - the only participant in this discipline under 50 sec. From Serbian team, Velimir Stjepanovic did the best in the M-200 fly (2:04.66) for SFs. In the M-100 free he ranked 38th (52.53), while Vladislav Paskas touched as 51st (53.11). Serbian national Junior team at the Balkan Junior Championships which started Saturday in Varna, Bulgaria did it best. In the morning part, 8 medals were earned, while in the afternoon  9 were added. In the Part-2, Katarina Simonovic picked up 3 gold medals (in 50 fly 28.32; 100 free 58.09 and 200 IM 2:24.59). Stefan Sorak in 200 back took gold (2:08.06) while the SRB women's relay 4x200 free also earned a gold medal (8:42.05)... (Pittsburgh, USA) - This past weekend in Pittsburgh, Pa., the 2010 Big East Championships concluded (11 men's swim teams). As a sophomore of the of the Notre Dame University, Petar Petrovic, SRB swimmer succeeded to set a new school record while earning bronze medal in 100yd back (48.64) on the second night. SC Proleter - far best swim club in Serbia...(Top times)

(Zrenjanin, SRB) - Celebrating the club's annual day, the Chief board of the Swimming Club Proleter (Zrenjanin)  issued the list of its top times (all pools) set in the course of 2009... Medals from the Universiade Belgrade 2009, the Mediterranean Games Pescara '09, European SC championships Istanbul 2009 and the participation at the EYOF 2009 (FIN) and European Junior Champs (CZE), are the evidences. And not only Lenjder, Siladji, Najdanovski and Vukanovic, but also new stars are coming (Trajkovic, Cordas-Draganov, Cosic, etc)...

Slobodan Bokanic, new President of the PSS...
(Belgrade, SRB) - After the 5 hours lasting conference  - the extraordinary Assembly of the Serbian Swimming Association concluded tonight in Belgrade (at the Tas press center hall). Among four candidates for the position of the PSS President, and after two cycles of voting, final decision of 45 delegates is - the new President of the Serbian Swimming Association is Mr. Slobodan Bokanic,prof. headcoach and chief person of the Swimming Club Kikinda...

Nadja Higl - the best SRB athlete in 2009...

(Belgrade, SRB) - Among many SRB sport stars (Cavic, Zimonjic, Topic, Filipovic, Djokovic, Stojic, Jagar, etc.), Nadja Higl, swimmer - the world champion and national rec holder earned a prestige acknowledgment from the Sport Magazine in its 53rd annual voting for the best athlete of the year. At the spectacular ceremony held at the Continental Hotel, Higl received the traditional "Gold Pin" of the oldest sport magazine in the region. (Novi Sad, SRB) - Gathering 485 swimmers from 32 clubs (BiH 4; FYROM 3; SRB 25), the traditional AG swim meet St.Clause Meet - Deda Mraz 2009 concluded today in the City of Novi Sad, SRB...
