In order to continue with the successful tradition of these championships,
the Bureau awarded the organisation of the 12th FINA World Swim Championships

presentation, the City of Casablanca (MAR) was chosen to stage the

FINA World Swim Championships (25m) Istanbul 2012, and 15th FINA World

of these championships are proceeding in a very positive way and are a
guarantee of successful upcoming World Championships... A report
on the Olympic Games London 2012 was also presented to the Bureau. FINA
is working in close co-operation with the IOC and LOCOG to finalise the
programme of these Olympic Games and to ensure the optimal exposure of
Aquatic sports in the British capital. Fina has also nominated a

(Dubai, UAE) - The world swimmers who already arrived Dubai, have trained
for the first time in the new state of the art Hamdan bin Mohammed bin
Rashid Sports Complex and the response has been overwhelmingly positive,

swimmers as they prepare for the competition. Due to the latest info from
the OC board, teams are arriving every day, so the Dubai's airport will
also be swarming with the heroes of the pool.
World and Olympic 1500 free champion,
Oussama
Mellouli of Tunisia was also full of praise for the facility, saying
“I am super excited, it’s an incredible venue, a fast pool and I can’t
wait to get this competition going”. Mellouli, who is hot favourite to
take the 1500m gold, is tapered and feeling good.
Fina has announced the Entry
Lists of the all events... Few names are at the top such as Mangini,
Korzeniowski
and Izotov in 200 free, Pellegrini, Heemskerk and
Vollmer
also in 200 free, Izotov, Cielo and Magnini in 200
fly, etc. Athletes from the SRB squad are also seen for the finals:
I.Lendjer
in 100 fly (3rd time overall), 8th time in 50 fly (22.79), while C.Siladji
placed 6th in 50 breast (26.31) while in 100 breast 8th (57.65). Watch
out the complete lists, issued at the official timekeeper's web-site omegatiming.com
(Belgrade, SRB) - On Sunday, the trio of the Serbian Swimming departured
Belgrade from the airport 'Nikola Tesla'. Leaded by prof.Dejan Pejinovic,
the national senior head coach, the 'amazing serbian duo' Ivan Lendjer
and Caba Siladji went on travel to the United Arab Emirates. This
is just a part of the Serbian squad for the upcoming 10th Fina World Swim
Short Course Championships. In Dubai, another part of the national swimming
selection (Velimir Stjepanovic, swimmer and Chris Tidey,
coach) will join the Serbian team.
In his short note for the domestic
media,
Dejan Pejinovic, national head coach said: "My swimmers did
all I previously had expected to do, especially in the last period. Now
the time is in front of them to show, for what positions in this competition
they can step up. The goals for Lendjer are to go under 23.50 in the men's
50 fly, while in the 100 fly - all bellow 51.50 would be great. Regarding
the Siladji's goals, he can go bellow 27.00 in the men's 50 breast, while
in the 100 breast, I hope he can go faster then 59 seconds. In this moment
we do not know how many swimmers would swim in the semi finals 20 or 16,
and in finals 8 or 10. What is more, the concurrence for the Dubai 2010
is more serious then in Eindhoven (European SC championships recently finished
in the Netherlands). Top hopes for the men's 100 fly are Korotyshkin and
Deibler, while in the men's 100 breast Brazilian Silva and Southafrican
V.D. Burg...All who like swimming would have a great spectacle to enjoy.
"
(Dubai, UAE) - In his latest turnning to media, prior to start the flight
to Dubai, Leigh Nugent Australian head coach said:"The Dubai event
is very important for Australia. We had a good latter part of the year,
at the Pan Pacific Swimming Championship and the Commonwealth Games. The
Dubai world championship is important not only for the experienced athletes,
but also for the less experienced athletes looking to cement their place
in the side." Nugent is taking the short course event as seriously as the
LC world champs in Shanghai in July 2011 for which he organized preparations
in the Chinese city, before bringing the squad of 27 to Dubai next week
The coach board of the Australian
swimming has decided to rest some big names but still have the likes of
Geoff
Huegill and Liesel Jones. Coach Nugent also explained that they
are not bringing the top stars, but the AUS team still have 27 athletes
competing. Some of the swimmers are preparing for Shanghai. Huegill and
Jones are obviously the biggest swim names in the AUS
selection, but the coach staff is expecting a few surprises in
Dubai... “With guys like James Magnussen, Matt Abood and
Kyle
Richardson in the team, this meet will also be a good chance for our
male sprinters to compete against the best in the world” Nugent added.
Has to be mentioned, too, that in the mid of June, Nugent has spent some
time in the 'inspection' of Dubai, as part of his team's preparation...
(Dubai, UAE) - In the mid of October, USA Swimming announced the 2010 FINA
Short Course World Champs Team. Despite the fact that Michael Phelps
won't be with the team, other stars are guarantees for the worthy medals
harvest. Thirty-seven of the nation’s top swimmers, including 2008 Olympic
gold medalists Ryan Lochte, Natalie Coughlin,
Aaron Peirsol
and Rebecca Soni will find themselves in Dubai. The US roster will
feature a total of 20 Olympians, including reigning SC World Champions
Lochte and Nathan Adrian. The Americn best breastroker Mike
Alexandrov (ex-BUL star, now resident of the USA) - recently set two
new USA SCY records at the 2010 Short Course Nationals in Columbus, Ohio
(100 yd breast - 51.35 and 200 yd breast in 1:51.73) has a great chances
to catch the podium. The U.S. team in Dubai will also feature SC World
Champions Jessica Hardy and Mary DeScenza Mohler. The meet
will be the first Short Course World Championships that Coughlin, Peirsol
and Katie Hoff have competed in since 2004. A complete roster for
the U.S. 2010 Short Course World Championships Team can be found here.
“This team
represents one of the most talented USA Swimming squads I’ve seen,” said
USA Swimming interim National Team Head Coach Jim Wood. “Our team
is a solid mix of new talent and veteran leadership and that is really
exciting, both for this meet and as we head toward London in less than
two years.”

Ehmisa is the traditional Arabic
name for turtle, and is pronounced eh-misa. Ehmisa, along with his brothers
and sisters, are known as Green Sea Turtles, one of only two species that
are native to the UAE. Late one night in 2002, Ehmisa was born on the beach
in a Dubai turtle sanctuary. The excited young turtles immediately swam
out to sea and enjoyed many adventures growing up in the warm waters of
the Arabian Gulf, just off the coast of Dubai. Growing up, Ehmisa watched
in awe at the amazing growth taking place in his home city. When Ehmisa
heard about the wonderful swimming champs that are taking place in Dubai
later this year, he decided he wanted to be part of these championships
and so he returned to Dubai and joined the team.
