concluded successfully this past week-end. Place of the event 50-m pool
in the town of Maribor, SLO. More then 360 athletes from 41 clubs/teams
(AUT, AZE, RUS, BIH, BUL, CRO, SRB HUN and SLO) took part in 2-day
events.

(HUN) and Chad Le Clos (RSA) finished in style at the closing
leg
of the FINA Swimming World Cup 2013, held at Beijing’s iconic
Water
Cube from November 13-14, both obtaining their second World Cup crown.
A total USD$ 2,218,000 in prize money has been distributed in this
year’s
edition. Hosszu earned 55 medals overall (32 gold, 12 silver and 11
bronze)
while Le Clos’ tally included 24 gold, 8 silver and 3 bronze medals for

took part in the race on the Xin Jin River. Thomas Lurz

winning by a fingernail in 1:46:56.54, was followed by Allan do
Carmo
(BRA) - 1:46:57.30 and Romain Beraud (FRA) - 1:46:58.03. On the

SUI) – Damian Blaum
(ARG) and Olga Kozydub (RUS), are the overall winners of the FINA
Open Water Swimming Grand Prix 2013, whose eighth and final leg
(36km)
was held between Capri and Napoli, in Italy, this past weekend. Blaum,
who participated in all the 2013 events, totalled 62 points, slightly
better
than Evgenij Pop Acev (FYROM), who was second with 61. The
third
best this year was Italy’s Simone Ercoli, finishing with 53
points..
The victory in Napoli went to Brian Ryckerman (BEL) in 6:13:55,
Pop
Acev arrived 6 sec later, while the bronze went to Joanes Hedel
FRA in 6:14:28. In the women’s field, Olga Kozydub who also
swam
all the eight races of the season, led the ranking with 111 points,
being
followed by Esther Nunez (ESP, 72) and by Martina Grimaldi

Lurz (GER) won his first race of the World Cup circuit 2013
in Lac Megantic (Quebec, CAN) in 2:15:35. He was followed by compatriot

Reichert (2:15:36) and Brazilian Samuel de Bona (2:15:38).
On
the women's side, Martina Grimaldi(ITA) won the race in

the traditional int'l meet Mladost 2012 (40th edition)
concluded
at the SRC Mladost (25m)... More then 400 competitors from SLO, HUN,
SRB,
RUS, UKR, TUR, BIH, ITA and CRO took part in the events. Daryna
Zevina
(UKR) set three meet records (in the W 200 back 2:03.83, in the W100
free
53.67 and in W 100 back 57.47). Among men, Daniel Gyurta (HUN)
set
the top performance in the M 200 breast (2:06.17). SRB national team
went
great.

'Youth for Youth' association the 1st edition of the int'l meet Youth
for Youth 2012 concluded successfully, this past weekend in
Sarajevo.
About 200 competitors of all ages took part in the events. Top meet
performances:

RUS) - The RUS squad clinched
four titles during the 4th leg of the FINA/ARENA Swimming World Cup,
organised in Moscow. Stanislav Donets was the fastest in the M
50
& 100 back, with respective times of 23.31 and 49.74, and scoring
the
best performance of the meet in the latter event (952 points). Elena
Sokolova touched 1st in the W 400 free in 4:04.83. Daiya Seto
(JPN) bagged three more gold medals M 1500 free, M 200 and M 400 IM).
Thanks
to her wins in the W 200 free (1:55.46), W 200 fly (2:05.77), 100 IM
(59.69),
200 IM (2:08.28) and 400 IM (4:30.14), Katinka Hosszu (HUN)

(34 women and 49 men) from 8 countries took part in Shantou, China, at
the final stop of the FINA 10km Marathon World Cup, which would
decide the overall winners of the 2012 circuit. Greece’s Spyridon
Gianniotiscruised
to victory touching home in 1:50:41.70. The 10km World champion,
who won four out of the eight legs of the series, finishes on top with
134 pts. On the women's side Brazil’s Ana Marcela Cunha,
dominated

Hosszu was the most prolific swimmer in the 3rd leg of the Fina
/Arena
World Cup 2012. Hosszu won the the 200m, 400m and 800m free, 100m, 200m
and 400m IM, and got the silver in the 200m back and 200m fly – being
also
the fastest performer among women, with her 400m IM win (4:28.01).
After
the first three meets of this Fina World Cup, the Hungarian champion
has
an impressive harvest of 24 medals. In the men’s field, 4 swimmers left
Stockholm with two gold medals: George Bovell (TRI) in the 50
free
and 100m IM; Darian Townsend (RSA) in the 200m free and 200m
IM;

concluded successfully. Place of the event: Adriatic sea coast near the
Pical Hotel. 3 disciplines were in the program. In the main 5 K race Matthias
Schweinzer (AUT) won in 58:52. Coming from SRB, Bence Balzamranked
11th (1:09:22). while Goran Bilbija placed 24th (1:23:00). Best
among the girls was Karla Sitic (CRO) in 1:03:12. This 2-day

legend Petar Stoychev managed to score his 11th victory at the
Ohrid
Swimming Marathon 2012 (the last leg of the Fina GP series). He

the 30 K Ohrid Lake route in 5 hours, 30 minutes and 30 seconds. “The
victory
is not accidental, it is a fruit of hard work and it should be pointed
out who is the best here. I’ve won everything and set new record, so it

from 31 countries met in Welland (Niagara, CAN), host of the 1st world
youth-dedicated open water swimming competition – the FINA World
Junior
Open Water Championships – (on Aug 16-19). The programme included 3
events and competitors were divided in two age groups: 14 to 16
year-old
M/F 5km race while the 17 to 18 year-old swimmers in a 7.5km effort. A
3km Team Event (entered by 3 swimmers for one team) was also organised

(TUN)- Gold in 10 K marathon...(Results)
|
| (London,
GBR) - Oussama Mellouli
of Tunisia won the Olympic Swim Marathon 10k today in Serpentine Lake.
He finished in 1:49:55.1, more than 3 seconds ahead of Thomas Lurz(GER)
and Richard Weinberger (CAN), who came 3rd - 5.2 seconds behind
the Tunisian. Mellouli is the first swimmer to win a medal in both the
pool and the OWS events in the same Olympic Games and is also the first
athlete to have won a gold medal in both the pool and open water
events.

a veteran of pool swimming at two Olympic Games, had the golden
touch
in The Serpentine lake in Hyde Park at the 10 K marathon. The 26 year

Hungarian survived a strong challenge from USA's Haley Anderson
to collect Hungary's second gold swim medal at the Olympic Games.
Risztov
completed the women's 10k race in 1:57:38.2, just .4 of a second ahead
of the American swimmer (1:57:38.6). Martina Grimaldi (ITA)

Kocaeli.
About 120 athletes from 21 countries took part in the events (7.5K, 5K

champs
concluded Sunday in Belgrade. Top champs performances were set by two
SLO
stars Damir Dugonjic, for the M 50 breast (27.76 -886 pts) and Anja
Klinar, for the W 400 IM (4:41.75 - 874 pts.). From the domestic
stars,
10 new national standards were set. New ABS records: SC Proleter in
the M 4x100 Medley Realy (3:48.36), SC Partizan in the M 4x200
Fee
Relay (7:43.54).. Two NJRs are also set: Igor Terzic in the M
200
breast (2:17.08) and SC Partizan in the M 4x100 free realy
(3:34.12)..
